Hi! I’m Simon and I am the owner of Baby Squids Newbury and Reading, and along with a team of amazing teachers we run classes most days of the week around the Newbury and Reading areas. We have opened our first classes at the start of 2024, and I extremely excited and happy to be leading fun and progressive swimming classes for children between the ages of 0 months – 4 years.
I have two boys, who are like chalk and cheese and they had very separate needs when it came to their swimming classes. This continues to inspire me to ensure that our classes are aimed at children as individuals, and their journeys are tailored to their own development and personalities so that your little one’s experience is the best it can be. We work really hard behind the scenes to create lessons that will be fun, creative and progressive, and our aim is to bring water confidence to every child that joins us, no matter what their experience.

We have a variety of swimming lessons in Newbury and Reading. Our STA qualified swimming teachers run lessons in Newbury, Reading and the surrounding area. We teach babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers (aged 0 – 4) across these swimming pools.
All of us at Baby Squids Newbury & Reading have lots of fun, learn important water safety skills whilst following our structured and progressive milestones programme.
Bucklebury, Berkshire, RG7 6QB
This is a lovely private pool located in Bucklebury, between Thatcham and Theale. It is heated to 30C which is great for babies over 3 months, toddlers and preschoolers. There is private free parking at this location and we offer small classes of just four children for a warm and personal experience.

Reading, Berkshire, RG30 4EL
This is a lovely hydrotherapy pool heated between 32- 34 degrees, therefore no wetsuits required, and suitable from birth. It has a depth of 1.3 metres and is easily accessed by steps. It has individual curtained changing rooms and class sizes are limited to 6 children.

We know that from newborn through to school age, your child develops very fast, hence our Reading and Newbury baby swimming lessons are built around four major Milestones, specific to their current age and ability. We love it when babies attend from birth, but we welcome all abilities and love it you join our Newbury and Reading children’s swimming classes at any point during the middle of a term (remember we pride ourselves on being flexible!). We like to work together with parents and carers to build your child’s swimming skills and confidence, and are more than happy to talk through any specific concerns you may have before joining us.
