Hi! I’m Lucy the owner of Baby Squids Southampton. Today, I’m thrilled to share a bit about my path from a Baby Squids parent to the owner of the Southampton franchise. It’s been a whirlwind of splashes, smiles, and a few “Aha!” moments along the way.
My journey into Baby Squids started after a 15-year career in Early Years, where I worked across almost every role imaginable—from Teaching Assistant and Teacher to Nursery Manager. When I started my own family, I knew I wanted a career that allowed me to balance my professional expertise with the joys raising a young family.
Throughout my career, I have developed a deep understanding of child development and how children learn through play and exploration. I take great pride in ensuring creative sessions bring joy and delight to each child whilst learning new skills.
I am thrilled to bring my knowledge of developmental milestones to the water, helping your little ones build confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love for swimming in a fun, nurturing environment.
I know first-hand the magic of that first splash and the pride of seeing a little one blow their first bubbles. I love sharing that with you.

We love Oaklands Community pool. A purpose-built facility heated to 31C, it is a true privilege to have access to such a great pool to teach all our Baby Squids Southampton kids!

My little boy absolutely loves his Baby Squids classes and he’s now so confident in the water. All the teachers are fantastic and always bring so much fun. I have been taking my son Arlo to baby squids since before he was one and he is now 3 and a half. Emma is an absolutely fantastic teacher. She is so patient and enthusiastic about what she does and Arlo is always so excited to be in the water. My son has ASD and Emma is so inclusive and goes above and beyond to make sure that he feels comfortable. She made visual support cards for him too!
